The Mission of Health Education AIDS Liaison (HEAL) San Diego, Inc., is to educate the public about alternative and holistic approaches to defining and treating the syndrome called "AIDS." We will achieve this Mission through grassroots education efforts, including but not limited to: holding monthly public meetings; maintaining an informative website; producing a weekly public access cable television show; and distributing educational literature in public venues. HEAL was founded in 1982 in New York and our purpose then, as it is now, has been to provide information and support for alternative and holistic approaches to AIDS and related conditions. HEAL was originally conceived as a vehicle to help people living with AIDS and help those at risk to stay healthy. HEAL is assuming the role of international resource for information on alternative, complementary and holistic approaches to health. While HEAL does not officially endorse or promote anything, we feel that if you take your time, study the available information, and listen to your own intuition, you will be able to make the right choices and pursue the right course. The only thing HEAL advocates are education, informed decisions, and safe healthy responsible behaviour. HEAL's educational approach is multi-pronged: (1) Understand and address the health traditions of all, (2) Promote a positive life-affirming psyche, (3) Promote a healthy lifestyle, (4) Help participants to deal with specific co-factors and infections, (5) Explain that no one approach works for all people and assist individuals in reviewing all options and choosing his/her own healthiest course. After more than 15 years working with AIDS and AIDS related problems, HEAL is of the opinion that the whole thrust of AIDS "testing", research, and treatment urgently needs to be reconsidered. HEAL believes that safe, healthy, responsible behaviour can be promoted without terrorism and disinformation. |
